A cider advert is one of the surest signs of spring, but Strongbow is staying indoors for now, with an ad set in a pub on a dark evening.
Inside, Chris Kinley and Rob Waters - described by Strongbow as ‘local legends’ (though it’s not clear to which region) - are performing a serviceable cover version of Phil Oakey & Giorgio Moroder’s Together in Electric Dreams. Lit by a beguiling golden glow, the lads soon have the whole pub singing along. It’s rather sweet.
The ‘refreshing people since 1960’ slogan underlines the brand’s heritage, as do its arrows. And Strongbow is doubling down on its pro-pub stance, promising to back special music nights in pubs, with more ‘local hero’ ads to come.
