Wheat prices have moved up over the past month as a result of Ukrainian exports for the 2014/15 season being revised down by 4% on previous forecasts. However, prices continue to be lower than a year ago.

Coconut oil prices also continue to rise, driven by dry weather in India - the world’s third-largest producer of coconuts - which has resulted in a drop in production.

Meanwhile, cotton prices remain on a downward trend as result of lower demand, with reduced demand - particularly from China - also driving down the price of palm oil.

The price of crude oil is also down slightly, following the release of new data showing a slowdown in Chinese manufacturing.
