Suppliers often complain about supermarkets squeezing them for cash, but now City analysts have found themselves at the receiving end, courtesy of Tesco.
An outraged note from Seymour Pierce says Tesco wanted a "contribution" per analyst to attend its UK investor relations trips on Thursday and Friday last week.
It was unimpressed with being asked to pay £250 to visit "Tesco and competitors in and around the Manchester area".
The note says: "Profits likely to be just a whisker under £1.6bn this year and the company wants a contribution what snorrahs!"
"Snorrah", they tell us, is Yiddish for "tight".
