The FWD's Gold Medal awards were also presented at the annual dinner. Alan Brett-Pitt of Booker and Grant Scrimgeour of Martex were named young wholesalers of the year. Kevin Wilson of Makro won the gold medal for service to retailers; Derek Rogers of HN Nuttall and Chris Dennis of Castell Howell Foods won it for service to caterers. The gold medals for cash and carry managers of the year went to Hasib Khan of Bestway and Raj Krishan of Blakemore. And Mukesh Vithlani of Dhamecha Foods won a gold medal for achievement as did Take Home Blueprint merchandising manager Neil Nichols. The gold medals for delivered depot management were awarded to Brian Watson of 3663 and David Riley of JW Filshill. Pepsi, Stowells of Chelsea and Tetley Tea were named brands of the year, while Walkers Snacks and Kraft Foods won the service awards.
