Spar Scottish wholesaler and retailer CJ Lang is to aggressively seek business through further store improvements and has a “war chest” for acquisitions.

At Spar Scotland’s trade show in Fife, CJ Lang MD designate Ed Ferguson revealed that the group had set up a new acquisitions department to meet its target of 100 company-owned stores over the next two years.

Ferguson said with all the change to the retail landscape north of the border, the group needs to be ready to act on any fall-out from the Co-op/Alldays takeover.
