Redbridge and Valle del Jerte co-op forge new link A new marketing agreement which is expected to boost imports of stalkless Spanish Picota cherries has been signed between Agrupacion de Co-operatives, Valle del Jerte, one of the region's largest suppliers, and Redbridge Holdings. Redbridge Produce Marketing will be its sole UK representative and, according to managing director Mark Bradnum, volumes are targeted to reach 6,000 tonnes, a 20% increase on last year. "Obviously at this stage we are still dependent on the weather," said Bradnum, "but we would expect to start shipping in a few weeks." This year the variety, which will also be available from other suppliers, will be promotionally backed by Foods from Spain. The VdJ cooperative also grows raspberries which will be distributed through AFI Direct Sales, one of Redbridge's specialist subsidiaries, which also sees the potential of blueberries and blackberries. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
