Sprowson says that she loves the variety of her job as a frozen foods buyer and that ice cream buying has its own challenges as it is a fast-moving category.
“Suppliers are always bringing out new products and I really enjoy seeing it all coming together,” says Sprowson. “There is a lot of product churn, but that is because it’s a fashionable area and people are always looking for something new.”
Sprowson says that the health debate is having its effect on the ice cream category and that the ‘healthier option’ is her biggest area of growth.
She explains that there is a big opportunity in free-from ice cream and for cleaner products that are made without using stabilisers and emulsifiers.
