This time last year our Top Store award went to Tesco manager Ricky Wheeler for his Amersham store, which not only provided a full basket, but ticked every box on our shopper’s list. Ricky said he was able to spend more time on the shop floor thanks to changes he had put in place and said he was lucky to work with the people he did. One year on and Wheeler is still the store manager. He has been working for Tesco for 28 years. The store is undergoing a period of change and is midway through a four-month makeover. “We have been taking in what our customers are telling us and we are putting in new counters, deeper shelves for better availability and a new clothing section,” Wheeler said.
