Budgens has followed Sainsbury up the premium curry path with the launch of an exclusive range of fresh dishes created by chefs at London's famous Bombay Brasserie.

The roll-out follows a successful trial in five Budgens stores which it says has sparked an uplift of 120% in fresh curry sales.

The range, including dishes such as Chicken Makhani, Hyderbad and Tikka Masala, is produced by Noon Products, which also makes Sainsbury's range, and will soon be available in 44 Budgens stores.

The range will be sold from the store's deli departments, alongside Newitts' offer, and hot food to go. A single speciality is on offer at any time and the recipes will change monthly.

Budgens trading manager Helen Thomas said: "Once again we are linking up with a premium specialist brand. It gives us another point of difference and brings interest and variety. Customer feedback results speak for themselves."
