Chilean wine producer Corpora is planning a blueberry functional wine drink, described as “the Red Bull of wine”.

The functional wine is still in development and there is currently an issue over whether the tipple, which would also contain vitamin B and guarana, could be classified as a wine, a spokeswoman said.

Meanwhile, the company is introducing a blueberry-infused sparkling “cooler”, marking the first time the berry has been used in wine, Corpora claimed. The blueberry and wine drink, which contains between 6% and 11.5% of alcohol, will be launched at this year’s Wines of Chile tasting on 9 September at The Royal Horticultural Halls in London.

Other Corpora NPD scheduled to launch at the event are organic wines including a Pinot Grigio under the Agustinos brand and a Merlot Rosé under the Gracia portfolio. New packaging for its Porta and Gracia brands will also be revealed.
