Cadbury Creme Egg has hatched into a new form - a branded ice cream from Fredericks Dairies.
The manufacturer has developed Cadbury Creme Egg ice cream stick, containing vanilla flavoured ice cream with a bright yellow fondant sauce centre, in a unusual twist on the iconic confectionery brand.
Fredericks hopes the
egg-inspired product will help drive retail sales in the run-up to Easter, when demand for ice cream is traditionally low.
The company is planning lots of branded ice cream NPD after investing £10m in a new production site, and is also launching Cadbury Dairy Milk with Orange Chips ice cream bar to join its seven-strong range of Cadbury ice cream bars.
Both products will be given marketing support in 2006 and also benefit from halo advertising from Cadbury, including a £4m TV campaign for Creme Egg starting in January (p58 last week’s The Grocer).
