Emmi has stripped all artificial sweeteners out of its Onken Fat Free yoghurt range in a bid to meet growing consumer demand for products containing natural ingredients.

Its three-strong range, which comes in strawberry, mango & apple and vanilla flavours, will bear on-pack flashes, from January, declaring that the yoghurts are ‘new! without artificial sweeteners’.

An Emmi spokeswoman said it had reformulated the products as a direct result of a Mintel report from June 2011 which had indicated two out of three people who ate yogurt would like to see more natural products.

The reformulation will bring the Onken Fat Free yoghurts into line with the rest of the Onken portfolio none of which contain artifical sweeteners.

Despite the reformulation, the yoghurts still contained just 88 calories per 100g, Emmi added.
