All the wines in the UK from Australian producer Kingston Estate were given a clean bill of health this week and the damage to the Australian industry looks to be slight. Wine and Spirit Association director Quentin Rappoport said: "I don't think this has done any lasting harm to the image of Australian wines, and it has demonstrated they can self regulate efficiently." Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation inspectors found small quantities of silver nitrate but at levels significantly less than the maximum allowable in drinking water. Matthew Clark had stopped the movement of stock of the Stowells of Chelsea range which could have contained these wines. These have now been released for sale. Similarly Waitrose and Tesco have the all clear to return to the shelves the Kingston Estate wines they list. Kingston Estate's export licence has been reinstated after a week's suspension. {{NEWS }}
