John Duncan, chief executive of dairy group First Milk is to retire.
Duncan, who has led First Milk since its formation in 2001, said that he would step down from the role at the company’s agm in November.
He will be replaced by First Milk’s deputy chief executive officer, Peter Humphreys, who has held many senior positions within the food industry, including MD and operations director for Eden Vale.
Duncan said: “We have successfully consolidated our position as the UK’s largest farmer-owned dairy business in terms of geographical spread and annual milk production levels.I am leaving the business in very capable hands and
through the ambition, drive and experience of Peter Humphreys, First Milk is well placed to move on to the next level.”
Richard Greenhalgh, First Milk’s chairman, added: “The business owes so much to the work of John Duncan. In a tough trading environment, his prudence and tenacity have kept First Milk strong.”
