Champion: BerryWorld UK – 100% Recycled Punnets

Developed at phenomenal speed (only 90 days), these 100% recycled punnets from BerryWorld UK are a category first for branded packaging in berries, featuring 100% recycled plastic (rPET) punnets with a fully recyclable, FSC-certified paper-based lidding film.

The innovative format, launched on Ocado in June for its strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and berries, makes it incredibly simple for shoppers to separate the two materials for at-home recycling, one of the major challenges of composite packs in fresh produce, while also sustaining shelf-life and sealability.

“This is the future of packaging,” said one judge, reflecting a “careful selection process” by the supplier to select materials that deliver for both consumers and retailers.
