The Grocer’s New Product Awards 2022: Cooking Sauces & Marinades

Winner – Filippo Berio Truffle Pesto 

A rich and indulgent pesto, this innovation from Filippo Berio served up a decadent addition to the category, said our judges. Produced in Liguria, the ‘home of pesto’, the sauce is the “perfect flavour and format” to be stirred through pasta or added as an ingredient to other dishes to provide that on-trend hint of truffle.

This product offered a gourmet experience at home for an affordable price tag, making it great value for money, said judges. The product looked luxurious, they added, with the subtle toning colours of the label against the soft olive gold colour of the pesto giving it a “gloriously indulgent” look. This was matched by the high-quality taste of the pesto too, which was rich but not too strong with a “really delicious” flavour profile. A little could also go a long way, making it a brilliant investment for home cooks seeking out premium ingredients.
