Winner – Charlie Bigham’s Cherry Bakewell Proper Puds
A “solid launch from a highly trusted brand”, these individual cherry bakewell puddings from Charlie Bigham’s combine a sweet and sour cherry compote topped with an almond and vanilla frangipane, garnished with toasted almonds and sour cherries. The result was a great product that “tasted of everything you’d expect” and looked “beautiful”.
With all the sense of homemade indulgence you’d expect from the brand, the iconic wooden tray was combined with premium packaging that justified a premium price tag too, and created a genuinely innovative extension to the category.
The puds “tasted incredible”, praised another judge, making a fantastic addition to an already strong range from the brand. The brand had pulled out all the stops, using ground almonds to achieve an sumptuously moist texture and real fruit for its compote too. “Yet another great product from Charlie Bigham’s,” was the summary by our thoroughly impressed judges.
