Winner – Oggs Scrambled
OGGS’ plant-based eggs are a “game-changer,” said our judges. The first egg alternative to be made from chickpea protein, these Scrambled Oggs delivered an “impressive and innovative” recipe that closely mirrored the taste, texture and appearance of egg.
Although “expensive”, the “rich taste” of the product still delivers great value to those looking for a whole egg alternative, and outpaced much of its competition with the use of a novel plant-based protein, the judges said.
Packaged in a “cute” 330ml recyclable bottle (equivalent to six eggs), the brand says Scrambled Oggs is made using 60% less carbon than eggs and provides a plant-based alternative suitable for both sweet and savoury dishes, including scrambles, omelettes, quiches, frittatas, creme brulée, and French toast.
Judges loved this versatility and the concept as a whole, underpinned by a “great brand” that really understands what modern consumers are looking for from egg alternatives.
