Swedish frozen food company Findus has refused to confirm or deny speculation that its owner, private equity group EQT, has put the company up for sale.

EQT acquired Findus from Nestlé in 2000 and a statement from Findus said EQT had always planned to sell the business within three to five years of the acquisition.

However it would not comment on speculation that it was in advanced discussions with Doughty Hanson, the UK firm that owns RHM, for a reported price of E700m.
