Waitrose is overhauling its hot-smoked fish category in a bid to drive sales as shoppers look for healthier protein options.

Five new products have been added to the range, which will now comprise 12 products. All the lines have been given a packaging overhaul with “vibrant images that will inspire customers to create new recipes”, said a Waitrose spokeswoman.

Interest in smoked fish was growing and volume sales in Waitrose were already up 12% year-on-year, she added.

The new lines are: poached salmon fillets with lemon and herb BBQ hot smoked salmon fillets hot-smoked peppered mackerel fillets hot-smoked and hot smoked honey & mustard salmon slices.
