PrepWorld opened its new site in Northfleet, Kent as part of its 10-year anniversary celebration last week.
The 140,000 sq ft site, which includes 10 assembly lines, will increase the company’s prepared fruit capacity and begin operating in August.
Compared to the business’ original site in Southfleet, Kent, the new facility has also automated pack assembly, dedicated fruit washing production lines, increased pomegranate processing development, lower factory temperature and improved staff welfare facilities.
It comes as PrepWorld, which supplies 11 major UK retailers and claims to account for 23% of the £450m UK prepared fruit market as the “fastest growing prepared fruit company in the UK”, has reached full capacity at the Southfleet site.
It will begin the transition to Northfleet in July, with a target of completion in October.
The site was officially opened on 7 July.
“I am personally so proud of everything the business, and our people, have achieved and am excited as we look forward to the next decade, operating from our new, state-of-the-art facilities in Northfleet,” said Ben Olins, PrepWorld CEO and founder.
The company hopes the new site will allow it to better support customers and expand its offerings into new lines.
