Heinz has appointed David Huse as area sales director for the UK and Ireland following the retirement of Mike Dries.
Dries had worked at Heinz for over 37 years and was well recognised in the grocery industry. He started his career as a salesman responsible for London and became general manager for UK sales in 1998, after being area sales director for the UK and Ireland in 2001.
Huse, who joins Heinz after spending 19 years at Procter & Gamble, will be responsible for all of Heinz's retail business, across all categories, with the exclusion of foodservice.
His last position at Procter & Gamble was in a hybrid role as the marketing director for Healthcare and as the sales director for the Boots business and pharmacy sector.
He also held the role of sales director for Procter & Gamble in Poland between 1996 and 1999.
Huse whose strengths lie in organisational design and team leadership will report directly to Stefan Barden, acting area director for the UK and Ireland, and will become a member of the UK Executive.
"We are pleased to welcome David to the team," said Barden.
Huse said he would spend a few months understanding the Heinz business before making clear short and long term goals. He described the new role as: "the right thing at my stage of life" and said he was more excited than daunted at the prospect of filling Dries' shoes.
