Peter Kendall has been named chief executive officer at Coors Brewers. He takes over from Gerry Fowden who has been made chief operating officer at Interbrew, Belgium (The Grocer, February 2). The move follows Coors' acquisition of Carling Brewers ­ now renamed Coors Brewers. Kendall will be responsible for all the company's business in the UK and Europe. He will report to Coors Brewing Company president and chief executive officer W Leo Kiely III. Kendall was previously senior vice-president and chief international officer at Carling which he joined in 1998. He commented: "I'm proud to have been appointed to lead Coors Brewers ­ for its track record in the UK of building brands and beating the competition."
