The London International Wine and Spirits Fair celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, with 35 wine-producing countries set to make the trip to the capital.
Organisers expect to have a roughly 50:50 split between Old and New World wineries exhibiting at London’s ExCel venue from 17-19 May this year. New exhibitors include Möet Hennessy UK, BW International, which will display wines from Montenegro, and The Wine Group, which is one of California’s largest producers.
When it started back in 1981, the focus was mainly on UK importers, but the show has grown to become one of the biggest events in the wine and spirits calendar.
In its first year, as the London Wine Trade Fair, 60 exhibitors attended the show when per capita wine consumption stood at 0.72 litres. Last year consumption was 2.75 litres.
