The M&S Cribbs Causeway store opened on 6 December

Inside M&S, the documentary looking behind the scenes at one the country’s best-loved retailers, is back for its third year.

The latest documentary, which airs at 8pm on Wednesday on ITV, follows the journey of one of M&S’s biggest store renewals, at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol.

It will watch as staff work overnight to prepare the full-line store for opening just in time for Christmas.

It will also go “behind the scenes as we create the most innovative high-quality food on the high street”, according to M&S.

The 103,000 sq ft Cribbs Causeway store opened on 6 December, following a five-month makeover.

Store manager Joe Erskine, who leads a 502-strong team at the branch, said at the time: “It’s amazing to finally unveil our new-look Cribbs Causeway store. I cannot wait to see the response to the refreshed store, it looks completely different, and I am certain customers – both regular and new – are going to love shopping here.

“We’ve been part of the Bristol community for 26 years and our new look is an exciting investment in the future of M&S in the area. Personally, I can’t wait to see our customers explore all the new features the store has to offer; from our brand-new M&S Café and fresh market-style Foodhall to our revamped clothing & home department – we really do have the best of M&S here to enjoy.”

Latest monthly data from Kantar revealed M&S as the fastest-growing major grocer, with sales up by 10.4% in the 12 weeks to 1 December. Just under one in three households, at 32%, bought food, drink and other groceries at M&S during the period.
