Unilever is creating the first better-for-you range of Marmite snacks to appeal to more health-conscious consumers.

Marmite Rice Cakes and Marmite Breadsticks, which will roll out over the next few weeks, are coated and baked with marmite yeast extract. The snacks, which costs 65p for a 30g bag, contains no "nasties" and are rich in B vitamins.

The range was first tested in March in a limited trial in selected Tescos, and, after "exceeding expectations", has been given an immediate nationwide roll out.

The launch, which comes in the wake of Marmite-flavoured crisps and Bovril and Marmite sausages, will benefit from £3m of marketing for the brand this year.
