Soup brand Baxters has snapped up a London-based chilled foods business as part of its global growth strategy.
The Edinburgh-headquartered group, which produces premium soups, condiments, dressings and other products for retail and foodservice in the UK and overseas, completed the acquisition of Orexis Fresh Foods for an undisclosed price this month.
Orexis employs 76 staff at its production facility in North London and supplies its portfolio of branded, licensed and private-label products to foodservice and retail customers across the UK.
It specialises in chilled ready-to-eat products such as guacamole, tzatziki, houmous and taramosalata.
“The acquisition is part of our global growth strategy and offers us the opportunity to expand our UK offering into chilled food,” said Baxters CEO Audrey Baxter.
The group, which also co-packs for other businesses, generates annual revenues of more than £300m.
