A new award launched in memory of former Safeway chairman the late Sir Alistair Grant will be presented at IGD's Food Industry Awards in London on October 9. Sponsored by Safeway, the Sir Alistair Grant Award for Outstanding Small Businesses will go to a supplier that has developed and flourished with the support of a larger mentor company. Entries are invited from participants in IGD's Small Food Producers' Support Initiative, which links small food producers with large companies which offer help and advice. The IGD is inviting businesses from across the supply chain to demonstrate their commitment, creativity and best practice in business and the community. The following awards are also up for grabs: The Young Managers' Business Challenge, sponsored by Tate & Lyle; the Ian MacLaurin award for supply chain excellence, sponsored by Tesco; the Nestlé social commitment award; the John Sainsbury award for staff training and development; and the Tetra Pak packaging design award for which entries are invited from brands and own label, new and re-designs or modifications. {{NEWS }}
