St Pierre Groupe has appointed David Wagstaff as MD following its recent acquisition by Grupo Bimbo.
David Wagstaff, who has been running the US business for the past two years, has been promoted with immediate effect. He replaces David Milner, who left after the £350m sales was completed in October. Milner was appointed CEO last autumn having previously been chairman.
Wagstaff brings more than 30 years’ experience in the food and drink industry to the role, having held commercial and management positions at McCain, Dairy Crest and Noble Foods US.
Wagstaff will lead the St Pierre Groupe management team, which remains largely unchanged, comprising: CFO Paolo Benedetto; CMO Jen Danby; supply chain director Brett Rhodes; quality compliance director Muriel Vanoli; and procurement director Yann Neveu.
St Peirre’s flagship brioche brand has achieved “phenomenal growth in recent years”, having scored a string of UK supermarket listings since 2020.
Wagstaff had spent the past two years at the helm of the US business, “bringing authentic French brioche and bakery products to the US marketplace and establishing the brioche category as a staple in the in-store bakery for US retailers”, it said.
Wagstaff said he was “pleased” that the leadership team remained “largely unchanged following the acquisition by the world’s largest bakery company, Grupo Bimbo, in October.
This would allow the business to “continue to build our brands and drive growth with the unique St Pierre spirit for which our company is known”, he said.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time for our brands and talented team of people, providing access to the right infrastructure and expertise to propel our brands on to even greater success.”
