Former Palmer & Harvey CEO Tony Reed has joined Midlands-based symbol group Select & Save as a non-executive director.
The move sees Reed once again teaming up with Select & Save co-owner and MD Andrew King, with whom he worked at the Tesco-owned One Stop convenience chain.
Reed, who will be working with Select & Save on a part-time basis, spent 38 years with Tesco, latterly as convenience MD overseeing both the Tesco Express operation and One Stop.
He joined a struggling Palmer & Harvey as CEO in October 2016, but was unable to prevent its collapse into administration in November 2017.
“Tony will be supporting us on our strategic journey and playing his part in supporting us to deliver a governance framework that will allow us to take the company to the next level,” said King.
“Tony brings a wealth of experience to the group, which is retail, large and small format, and consumer-led.”
Select & Save has also appointed Raj Krishan as commercial director on an interim basis. Krishan recently completed a four-month interim spell as head of business development at Sugro.
King said this week Select & Save was planning to grow the number of fascia stores it operates from 150 to 200 this year.
This week, Select & Save also relaunched its website to reflect the company’s rebrand in January. King said the website was now easier to navigate and more informative. A second phase is set to go live in three months.
