The appointment of Joanne Gunn completes Planet Organic’s executive team reshuffle

Planet Organic has appointed Naked Wines’ growth director Joanne Gunn as its new customer director.

Gunn will be joining the specialist retailer on 14 November, completing an executive team restructuring at Planet which kicked off when new CEO George Dymond joined in November last year.

Gunn has been Naked Wines’ growth director for nearly three years, overseeing a team tasked with growing the brand across digital and partnerships.

Prior to that, she was group partnerships director at Naked Wines’ parent company Majestic Wine for four years, where she was responsible for acquisition and partnerships across the Majestic Group, including Majestic Retail, Majestic Commercial, Naked Wines and Lay & Wheeler.

Gunn has also worked for Innocent Drinks across different roles, and has previously owned her own food & drink consultancy targeting small businesses.

“I realised pretty early on that big businesses just aren’t for me – it’s the cut and thrust of startups and scale ups, the transformation, the hustle, that gets me out of bed and galloping into the office,” Gunn wrote on her LinkedIn page.

“I’ve been lucky enough to work at some brilliant (and very different) businesses and learn from the best, so have a broad range of experience across large fmcg, luxury/wine trade and the dynamic and challenging world of startup food and drink businesses”.

Dymond recently told The Grocer he was “really pleased” with the executive team he has put together to help deliver Planet Organic’s growth strategy.

The retailer is currently a 12-store chain based mainly in London, with the exception of a newly opened store in Henley.

However, under the leadership of Dymond, the business now has a store expansion target that will see Planet operate a total of 50 stores by the end of 2025.
