Weetabix Food Company has announced the appointment of Gareth Turner as head of brand for Weetabix.
Turner has more than 21 years’ experience in food and drink. He joins Weetabix Food Co after a five-year stint at Arla, where he started as senior brand manager for Lurpak, later becoming the dairy co-operative’s marketing director for butter and then its head of European brand operations.
Prior to Arla, Turner spent 14 years with Heineken, reaching the position of senior brand manager for modern cider, having previously filled such roles as senior brand manager for ale and regional sales director.
In his latest job, he will lead the long-term brand strategy for the Weetabix portfolio as part of its marketing operations.
Weetabix Food Co marketing director Francesca Theokli said Turner’s “passion for marketing well-loved famous food brands, coupled with his experience and ambition for business growth, makes him the ideal appointment within our talented marketing leadership team”.
Turner added: “Like millions of people around the UK, Weetabix is in my kitchen cupboard and loved by my family. The opportunity to lead the marketing of the Weetabix brand and take it to the next level is an honour.”
Turner has replaced Phil Pick, the former AB InBev executive who took on the Weetabix role in December 2018 on an interim basis.
