What was your first-ever job? I read electricity meters for a summer job in the 1980s. After two weeks a shop steward told me to slow down.

What’s been your worst job interview? A final interview with National Adhesives and Resins. The agency gave the impression the offer was a certainty. I rested on my laurels and was duly “chewed up” by the sales director.

What was the first music single you bought?Watching the Detectives by Elvis Costello. It’s still a favourite of mine.

How do you describe your job to your mates? In a nutshell, I head up the sales and marketing for a traditional British juice drinks company.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?Visiting lovely pubs, bars and hotels, and seeing Frobishers on display.

What’s the least rewarding part? The time taken to engage third parties, which is invaluable but without whose help we can’t progress.

What’s your motto in life? “Always look on the bright side” - a philosophy that has served me well over the years.

If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? A company helicopter. I have a licence to fly one, but I don’t have the hardware, so I still daydream when I’m stuck in traffic jams.

What’s your favourite movie and why? Local Hero, starring Burt Lancaster - great story, scenery, music, irony and humour.

What’s been the most embarrassing moment in your life? Running into the back of a colleague’s car in my first few weeks of starting work at Taunton Cider when leaving work and being ribbed by the sales team for it ever after. It did help me settle in, but it makes me cringe even now.

Any phobias? Running into the back of cars.

If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be and why? Chris Evans - he’s full of energy and ideas.

If you could change one thing in the grocery industry what would it be? To replace factory farmed food with free range.

What luxury would you have on your desert island?A barbecue and Sky Sports - I’d need both.

What animal best reflects your personality and why? A shark because I enjoy swimming and going out for a bite.
