What was your first-ever job? Selling trainers and tracksuits in a sports shop in Preston. I got a bonus if I sold shoe protector.
What’s been your worst job interview? A ‘live’ interview on the job, trying to get people to switch energy provider door-to-door on a wet Tuesday in Harrogate. I ended up with a cold and blisters, and the job didn’t work out!
What was the first music single you bought? It’s Oh So Quiet by Björk, which is really ironic as I’m known for never stopping talking.
How do you describe your job to your mates? All my friends are chief product tasters, so usually with my mouth full, asking if it’s any good.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job? When people email pics of their friends and family having a pizza party and competing over who can make the best one.
What’s the least rewarding part? Admin - I just want to be in the kitchen, creating new ideas.
What’s your nickname? Wils - short for my maiden name Wilson, and the reason for my ‘witty’ motto.
Which is? Where there’s a Wils, there’s a way.
If you could have one dream perk, what would it be? A company-funded personal trainer. I have to ‘taste test’ a lot of pizza…
What’s your favourite movie and why? The Witches, based on the Roald Dahl book. I used to watch it over and over as a child and try and perfect the German accent of the Grand High Witch.
Do you have any phobias? Bellybuttons. I have no idea why, but if I see someone touch theirs I feel physically sick.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff, who would it be? Jo Wheatley from The Great British Bake Off. I’m sure she’d have some inspiring NPD ideas.
If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? That grocery websites be less functional and more inspiring, allowing you to create recipes and meal ideas on-screen before you buy.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? A Kindle that never runs out of battery fully loaded with all the books I could ever read, and a bottomless G&T.
What animal best reflects your personality? A pig - they’re intelligent and loyal, but a bit greedy.
