What was your first-ever job? At a local independent corner shop, cleaning the stockroom and stacking shelves. I also got to wash the van occasionally!
What’s been your worst job interview? When an interviewer made me a coffee. I don’t like coffee, had asked for tea and he must have misheard… I forced myself to politely drink it and got the job.
What was the first music single you bought? I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers. Not my proudest moment.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I just sell a few potatoes!
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Working with a great team. I know it’s a bit of a cliché, but it really does make it worthwhile. The people in the business make that enjoyment a whole lot better.
What is the least rewarding part? Paperwork. I have never been a fan.
What is your motto in life? You only get one life, so make the most of it.
If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? A company helicopter - it would cut down on travel times and running to catch trains.
Do you have any phobias? Heights. I like to think I have my feet on the ground most of the time, but it’s not ideal when using the lifts on skiing holidays.
If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? Quicker reaction time to implement change. Things appear to take longer to implement these days.
What luxury would you have on a desert island? A fridge full of cool bottled premium lager (and somewhere to plug the fridge in).
What’s your favourite film and why? The Rock. Nicolas Cage and Sean Connery are great actors and the backdrop of the amazing Alcatraz is good enough for me anytime.
What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? I once ran into my own car while driving another company vehicle.
Which celebrity would you most like to work with and why? Dave Brailsford. He’s good at getting the best out of a team, and would maybe get me an introduction to Sir Bradley Wiggins!
What animal most reflects your personality? A working sheepdog. Loyal, keen, works well under pressure and will put the effort in to get the job done.
