What was your first-ever job? Fruit picking in sleepy Suffolk.
What’s been your worst job interview? It was actually me interviewing someone whilst at MTV. I tripped over their chair and very nearly crashed through a glass wall. They managed to keep a straight face, despite the fact I was in hysterics.
What was the first music single you bought? Money for Nothing by Dire Straits on seven-inch vinyl. I accidentally sat on it two weeks later.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I make delicious healthy snacks that are good for people, producers and the planet.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job? Constantly challenging the status quo whilst trying to make people smile with our products.
What’s the least rewarding part? Being at arm’s length whilst constantly trying to get in front of decision makers.
What’s your motto in life? Spend as much time (eating) with your friends and family as possible.
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? An Ottolenghi gold card - what that man can do with veg is beyond my wildest dreams…
What’s your favourite movie? Why? Life is Beautiful. To be able to create constant laughter and happiness in the face of certain death is quite an incredible feat.
What’s been the most embarrassing moment in your life? Probably singing a solo as Scrooge when my voice was breaking in front of hundreds of people in a theatre. The make-up was so bad I looked like I’d been in a car crash - quite apt given the performance you might say.
Any phobias? People eating loudly, mainly because I’m jealous that they’re eating. One of my oldest friends eats like he’s chewing gum. No. No. No.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be? Why? Probably Jamie Oliver. He raises awareness of food waste, cooks some cracking dishes, is a dedicated family man and a bloody nice bloke to boot.
If you could change one thing in the grocery industry what would it be? The fact that it’s often a supermarket listing or bust for many brands, especially in snacks. Even then, if you get the listing you need to spend like the big boys to stay listed.
