The Unearthed marketing manager on on PJ & Duncan, her curry-based nickname and split skirts
What was your first-ever job? Working at a rock climbing centre in the coffee shop.
What was your worst job interview? One that was on the sixth floor. I was on crutches at the time.
What was the first music single you bought? PJ & Duncan’s Let’s Get Ready to Rumble. It was hard to be cool growing up in the early 1990s!
How do you describe your job to your mates? I make people try our products by making them pretty and by spreading the word.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Watching a brand I’m proud to be part of reach new successes regularly.
What is the least rewarding part? The view. I over look the loading bay. Lorries don’t interest me.
What is your motto in life? ‘You reap what you sow’, ‘If you want to get noticed, do something amazing’ and ‘the more you put in, the more you get out’. All of which, I am aware, mean the same thing.
What’s your nickname? Bengal - acquired at school as my name sounds similar to curry. It has been adopted by all close friends since.
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? Unlimited designer shoes. And handbags. And jewellery.
What’s your favourite movie and why? It’s tough to pick one. Pulp Fiction captured my imagination. And anything with Will Ferrell is always a winner.
What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? Travelling from Surrey to London with a completely split skirt. I wondered why everyone seemed so friendly.
Do you have any phobias? Veiny hands, they make me squeamish.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be and why? Johnny Depp - for his creative intelligence you understand.
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? I’d like more risk takers. Innovation depends on risk.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? The internet - I imagine there would be a lot of spare time to do some shopping!
What animal best reflects your personality and why? I just asked the team on this one, and it’s a dolphin apparently. Always cheerful and excited, but also intelligent. And I’d happily take on a shark if I had to.
