What was your first-ever job? At 14 I started as a waiter on weekends, at a local restaurant. I spent my entire first two shifts peeling potatoes.
What’s been your worst job interview? I applied for a master’s programme in Spain. At the assessment centre they thought I would speak Spanish already. I did not. So they started asking me a lot of questions and I would repeat “si, si claro”. In the end I was accepted, and took long courses over summer to learn Spanish.
What was the first music single you bought? I think it was a Backstreet Boys single – ouch!
How do you describe your job to your mates? The first 1,000 days in life decide on the eating habits for the rest of our life. Some of them then wish that Mia & Ben would have been around earlier.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job? When you realise that we have come one step further again.
What’s your motto in life? If I work just as hard as I can, it will all be fine.
What’s the least rewarding part? I only see my wife and daughter on weekends. That’s hard.
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? A tool that transforms my ideas immediately into a structured work plan and a detailed to-do list.
What’s your favourite movie? Notting Hill.
What’s been the most embarrassing moment in your life? I am actually a very outgoing person but somehow I am not so good when I am being interviewed and filmed. It has only happened twice in my life but it went very wrong indeed both times.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be? Jamie Oliver. He has done so much when it comes to healthy infant and kids’ nutrition so it would be exciting to create this new category of fresh infant products with him. Hopefully he’ll see this as I have been trying to get in touch with him.
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? I’d like to see real transparency around the way food is processed.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? Sad but true – my laptop and the internet.
What animal best reflects your personality? A dog. I have two Scottish deerhounds at home and we are definitely the best of mates.
