Ed Jones
Senior customer marketing manager, Vimto - part of Nichols, on Shaggy, ladders and skinny dipping
What was your first-ever job? I spent my weekends picking up golf balls at my local driving range, trying not to get hit.
What’s been your worst job interview? At an assessment centre with a large confectionery company I won’t name.
What was the first music single you bought? I’m not ashamed to say it was Boombastic by Shaggy.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I spend my days making it as difficult as possible for shoppers to resist buying our products.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Making a difference. It doesn’t matter if that’s in a business sense or seeing my team at Vimto develop and progress.
What is the least rewarding part? Being so busy that sometimes great opportunities get missed.
What is your motto in life? Better never stops.
If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? The Vimto head office is located right next to the M6, meaning the commute to work can often be a nightmare! My ideal mode of transport would be a helicopter.
Do you have any phobias? I’m not afraid of heights, but I have a phobia of ladders. I’ve managed to fall off them a few too many times.
If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? I’d like to see big blue chip companies not having so much dominance within grocery.
What luxury would you have on a desert island? My Nespresso coffee machine gives me a great start to the day and it’s definitely the one gadget I couldn’t live without.
What animal best reflects your personality? A lion. My key character traits are being loyal, playful and protective.
What’s your favourite film and why? Goodfellas - it’s one of the best portrayals of mafia life I’ve ever seen and I’m a huge Robert De Niro fan.
What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? Not many people know this, but skinny dipping on holiday. A really funny person decided it would be hilarious to steal all of my clothes. The walk back to my hotel was one of the longest I’ve experienced.
Which celebrity would you most like to work with and why? It would have to be Tom Hanks for his great comedy style and true professionalism. I think he’d settle in nicely and be an asset to the team!
