What was your first-ever job? In a woodworkers store where I sanded and waxed pieces of exotic timber. It was very monotonous and the smell of hot wax was quite intoxicating.
What’s been your worst job interview? I went for an interview at the Eurostar call centre and giggled my way through the test script. They still offered me a job though.
What was the first music single you bought? Pass the Dutchie by Musical Youth.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I select and import Italian bakery products, which we sell under the Crosta & Mollica brand.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job? Getting a great-tasting product from bakers who are passionate about their products to customers in the UK without compromising on quality.
What’s the least rewarding part? Very early morning flights from Stansted. Getting up before 5am and not being able concentrate for the rest of the day. What’s your motto? Don’t look back!
What’s your nickname? I’ve had several including Bird’s Nest (not any more) and Orry.
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? An office overlooking the river Thames with floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony.
What’s your favourite movie? Why? I loved Il Postino - stunning location, incredible cast and a great poetic love story. Beautiful music too.
What’s been the most embarrassing moment in your life? Being caught with some railway information signs up my jumper by the police after a big student night out.
Any phobias? I used to be scared of snakes. Other things worry me now.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be? Why? Madonna. I recently saw her in concert and she was great. She has grown her brand with integrity and innovation. She’d also have us dancing in the office.
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? The demise of branded products in favour of supermarket own label.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? An iPad.
What animal best reflects your personality? Why? A gundog - loyal, hardworking and I never give up!
