What was your first job? I was a missed stich monitor in a trouser factory.
What was your worst- ever job interview? I had an interview with a TV production company and the boss stopped in the corridor before we walked into the room and fired someone for a mistake. So awkward…
What was the first music single you bought? “Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, if only you could make us understand “
How do you describe your job to your mates? I’m doing something I never imagined could be so excruciatingly hard and so entirely exhilarating.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? When we see someone put a pack of our burgers or meat loaf in their trolley. We stalk them around the store to check we don’t know them. It’s an amazing feeling.
What is the least rewarding part? Just the really big heavy wall in front of you sometimes. When you slump down against it - just before you finally see a way around it.
What is your motto in life? “When you know, you know. You know?”
What’s your nickname? My nickname since I was 11 is Fizz because I was never very good at sitting down and shutting up.
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? A Starbucks in the village in Worcestershire where we live.
What’s your favourite movie and why? The Thomas Crown Affair remake with Piers Brosnan. It’s very sexy and very cool.
What’s been the most embarrassing moment in your life? Admitting that I owned the Mr Blobby single in The Grocer Alternative CV section.
Do you have any phobias? When Roland married me he knew he was also taking on the role of chief-spider-remover-silly-girl-calmer-downer.
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? To explain that a promo is not a shopper’s right. It’s a way to be grateful for the times they paid the correct price for the product previously, or that they will in the future after trying it on offer.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? Roland.
What animal best reflects your personality and why? My mother regularly compares us to two Labrador puppies. We’re quite exhausting but also usually forgivable.
