MD, Sun Branding Solutions, on Roxy Music, horse riding and the magic of Disney’s Jungle Book
What was your first ever job? I was helping on a milk round from the age of 10. I loved it, especially the treats that the pennies earned allowed me.
What was the first music single you bought? Virginia Plain by Roxy Music. My auntie played it for me and I became hooked on glam rock.
How do you describe your job to your mates? ‘All things packaging.’
What is the most rewarding part of your job? I love that feeling when the team comes together and succeeds.
What is the least rewarding part? The reverse of the above: I don’t mean failure, but more those times when you know you should/could have done better - regardless of the end result.
What is your motto in life? Stay true to yourself and never ask others to do anything you’re not willing to do yourself.
If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? More hours in the day so I could spend time with my family. Failing that, an Aston Martin with an invisibility function - I’m easily satisfied!
Do you have any phobias? I’m uneasy around heights, as I tend to have the urge to jump! I’m not a fan of deep water either.
If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? Food waste. We have to take more responsibility and stop adding to the problem through promotions.
What luxury would you have on a desert island? Music - it evokes so many emotions and memories, and I like all genres. I hate silence!
What animal most reflects your personality? I’ve played with a few personality tests over the years and have been categorised as: a pack dog, wolf, penguin and hawk. Elements of them all resonate.
What’s your favourite film and why? The Jungle Book. It was the first film I ever saw and the Disney magic cast its spell.
What was the most embarrassing moment in your life? When I was 15 I went horse riding with a group of eight girls. My horse broke into a sudden gallop; I lost the reins and stirrups and was catapulted into the boggiest area in a cow field. To add insult to injury, the immediate stench told us I hadn’t landed in mud!
Which celebrity would you most like to work with? Billy Connolly - he would bring focus, passion, creative thinking, humour and tenacity.
