Peter Cox, marketing director, New Zealand honey Co, on mowing lawns, Masters golf and Robin Williams
What was your first-ever job? Mowing lawns while I was at university. I was self-employed and I sold the business for cash with some goodwill!
What was your worst job interview? With Cadbury in Australia. I totally messed it up, which was down to nerves.
What was the first music single you bought? Thriller by Michael Jackson.
How do you describe your job to your mates? Generating international consumer demand for a great premium functional food brand.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Seeing our honeys on shelf in Waitrose, Morrisons, Asda and Holland & Barrett when I’m in the UK.
What is the least rewarding part? Never having enough time or money to catch all the opportunities that are out there for brands.
What is your motto in life? Live each day to the fullest as if it’s your last!
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? I’m a big fan of golf so it would have to be an all expenses paid trip to the Masters at Augusta.
What’s your favourite movie and why? The Bucket List. The film makes some really moving points about what is important in life.
What has been the most embarrassing moment in your life? My father-in-law’s extremely rude wedding speech - given that the room was filled with High Court Judges.
Do you have any phobias? I’m seriously terrified of snakes and also not great with heights.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be and why? Robin Williams. He’s a brilliant actor and has a great sense of humour - I’m sure he would keep spirits up in the office.
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? Consumers are becoming more discerning and want to be able to explore and try more unique products in store, which contrasts to a retail trend of range consolidation - with less individual brands and more value-focused own-label offerings.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? A yacht tied up to the jetty, to make sure I got to explore as much of the area as possible.
What animal best reflects your personality and why? I would have to go with a bull. I’ve been told I’m a classic Taurean!
