Founder, Pip & Nut, on B*Witched, Ryan Gosling and scuba diving
What was your first-ever job? Working in a little tea shop - to this day they serve the best brownies I’ve ever eaten.
What’s been your worst job interview? One doesn’t spring to mind, but my worst job was a summer spent selling health and safety software over the phone to offices. You certainly get used to rejection!
What was the first music single you bought? I spent my pocket money on C’est La Vie by B*Witched - showing my age there, aren’t I?
How do you describe your job to your mates? Nut butter connoisseur and Chief Squirrel.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job? The variety - plus you can’t beat getting positive feedback from people buying and eating your products!
What’s the least rewarding part? Probably the amount of admin that’s involved in setting up accounts, but it’s a necessary evil!
What’s your motto in life? Never think you can’t do something.
What’s your nickname? My friends call me Muzz (short for Murray, my surname).
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? I wouldn’t mind a chauffeur-driven car, mainly because I cycle everywhere in London and it can get pretty tiring jumping from one meeting to the next!
What’s your favourite movie? I’m more a television series person than a movie buff. My latest obsession is The Good Wife.
What’s been the most embarrassing moment in your life? Having my dad storm a New Year’s Eve house party I was having when I was 17 and kicking all my friends out. The worst part is, he’d come from a fancy dress party and was dressed in a Beatles Sergeant Pepper outfit.
Any phobias? Not so much a phobia, it’s more of a hatred: liver or any kind of offal.
If you could pick a celebrity to join your staff who would it be? Ryan Gosling. I think he’d be the ultimate salesman and would charm Pip & Nut into any store.
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? It’s got to be the margins!
What luxury would you have on your desert island? A scuba diving kit. Well, you’ve got to make the most of it, haven’t you?
