MiiRO founder Rym Selmi
What was your first job? Working in a nursery school. It was fun but exhausting as it required continuous attention on the kids.
What’s been your worst job interview? At Equity Capital Management as an intern, and it was a complete disaster. It was the first time I had done a job interview in corporate finance and I wasn’t sure of the expectations and what the job consisted of. I didn’t get the internship!
What was the first music single you bought? Shania Twain - Man! I feel like a woman!
How do you describe your job to mates? I manufacture vegan and gorgeous chocolate-coated ice lollies then sell them to stores across the UK with the aim of challenging pre-conceived ideas that plant-based products are bland.
What’s your motto in life? It’s all about the journey, not the destination.
What’s the least rewarding part of your job? MiiRO is an exciting project that requires a lot of my time and some huge sacrifices, such as seeing less of my family and friends.
What’s your nickname? I have so many but interestingly enough, they are all longer than my actual name.
If you were allowed one dream perk, what would it be? Having a concierge service available for every single employee that would take care of your grocery, dry cleaning, healthy lunches, etc.
What’s been your most embarrassing moment? At the age of five, I stole a pen and got caught by the schoolmate I was stealing from. Not a very nice memory!
Which celebrity would you pick to join your staff? Angelina Jolie because I admire all her social work. I would have so many questions to ask.
What’s your favourite film? Gladiator because I love historical movies, the performances are great and the story is awesome.
Any phobias? I have a mouse phobia but I’m not sure where it comes from!
If you could change one thing in grocery, what would it be? Having more delicious plant-based alternatives available.
What would be your desert island luxury? A great chef cooking for me.
What animal best reflects your personality? The chameleon because I can adapt to my environment quite quickly.
