Sophie Lund
Co-founder, Mello, on Britney Spears, doing something new every day and Game of Thrones
What was your first-ever job? I worked in a coffee shop when I was 15 and I still remember it being the most stressful job I’ve ever had.
What’s been your worst job interview? I was asked “If you could be any celebrity, who would you be?” I wasn’t expecting the question, my mind was blank and after a few seconds of panic I blurted out Britney Spears, my childhood idol. The room erupted with laughter and I came out of the interview very embarrassed - but I got the job in the end.
What was the first music single you bought? The Spice Girls. I loved them.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I’ve launched a melon juice company with my best friend and it’s going to take over the world.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job? Knowing that I am doing something different and unique. You learn a new thing every day.
What’s the least rewarding part? Not being able to switch off!
What’s your motto in life? You only get out of life what you put into it - my dad taught me that!
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? I love food and trying different cuisines but there’s not always enough time in the day to indulge in all the new exotic recipes I’ve got my eye on, so I would love for my own personal chef to do that for me!
What’s your favourite movie? Give me Game of Thrones over a film any day.
What’s been the most embarrassing moment in your life? I was on holiday indulging in some water sports when I was thrown off with such force that I lost my bikini bottoms. I can safely say getting back into the boat to go to shore was one of the most embarrassing moments in my life.
Do you have any phobias? I hate spiders.
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? More transparency in the market. Consumers are so confused by conflicting messages and confusing food/drink labelling.
What luxury would you have on your desert island? I have seen The Island with Bear Grylls - so a plane to get me out of there!
What animal best reflects your personality? My cat Harvey - he is a little mad (in a good way), overly friendly and always happy.
