Vegetarian and vegan food specialist Anglesey Natural Foods has launched Quinova, a fermented form of the quinoa grain, into the health food sector.
Quinoa the seed of a spinach-like leafy plant grown in the Andes is said to be high in protein, complex carbohydrates and essential amino acids, low in sodium and gluten-free.
The new Quinova product is available frozen or chilled in 200g and 400g chunks or mince format. It can be used in place of other grains, as a meat substitute for vegetarians, and diced or minced to add to a variety of meals.
Marketing director Nick Goss said the organic grain was sourced from Andean farms using environmentally friendly methods and bought according to fair trade principles.
