Garden Spritz has rolled into Ocado, Whole Foods Market, Clos19 and Majestic Wine

Chandon is going head to head with Aperol with the launch of its own bitter orange ‘spritz’ drink.

Garden Spritz is a ready-to-serve blend of Chandon’s Brut sparkling wine and bitter liqueur, made with oranges, grapes and botanicals.

It has rolled into Ocado, Whole Foods Market, Clos19 and Majestic Wine (rsp: £20/750ml).

Chandon claimed it contained “up to 50% less sugar than an ordinary spritz”, with no artificial colours or flavours.

The 11.5% abv drink tapped into the “growing love for ready-to-serve aperitifs within the UK market”, it added.

The NPD was “the result of four years of experimentation and over 60 recipe trials by Chandon’s artisanal winemaking team in Mendoza, Argentina”, the brand claimed.

Chandon president Sibylle Scherer said she wanted to “inspire UK consumers to enjoy an elevated spritz experience”.

“We all need something refreshing and uncomplicated for those sunny days on that favourite secret rooftop with friends, or a garden party in the local park with neighbours, and we believe Chandon Garden Spritz is the answer to those effortless moments of connection.”

It comes after London-based Doghouse Distillery recently launched its own “British take” on the aperitivo.
