Doisy & Dam is ramping up its challenge to M&M’s with its own vegan spin on the brand’s chocolate peanuts.
Called Peanut D&Ds, the NPD comprises roasted peanuts encased in ethically sourced dark chocolate and covered in crisp, colourful sugar shells.
Billed as being “a new, grown-up take on a traditional chocolate treat”, Peanut D&Ds are palm oil-free, vegan and non-GMO. They would appeal to consumers “seeking a more mindful, ethical style of snacking”, said Doisy & Dam.
It’s the latest in a series of NPD from the brand designed to ape big names in confectionery, including its own vegan take on Maltesers, called Ballers, which rolled out in 2020, and a dark chocolate D&Ds comprising sugar-coated chocolate beans.
They were ”the perfect partner to any moment, from picnics to parties, nights on the sofa to cinema screens, or to stash in desk draws for an afternoon pick-me-up”, it added.
They will be available from Amazon from mid-July, followed by Holland & Barrett from 2 August (rsp: £2/80g).
Doisy & Dam co-founder Ed Smith said the brand was “really proud to be continually innovating, creating products for people who are increasingly looking for better ways to indulge”.
“We’ve been working hard on the recipe, making sure it had that perfect crunch and smooth chocolate flavour you’d expect from this style of treat,” he added.
