Sushi Daily owner KellyDeli has quietly rolled out a new Asian food concession in seven Asda stores.
Called Sticks, Bowls & Rolls, the food concept serves healthy meals and snacks and comfort food priced from £1.50 to £10.
The food counters, which operate from brightly coloured kiosks, have launched at Asda’s Birchwood Superstore in Warrington, Skelmersdale in West Lancashire, Hyde in Greater Manchester, Tilbury in Essex, Rawtenstall in Lancashire, Basingstoke in Hampshire and Merseyside Asda in Southport.
Among the Asian-inspired dishes – which can be heated up to go or served cold – are skewered chicken on sticks as well as vegetarian options including teriyaki tofu and katsu tofu.
Rice bowls with chicken, pork, prawns and bao buns – a type of Asian bread roll filled with the same ingredients – are also available, alongside bao dishes including teriyaki chicken, barbecue pulled pork, teriyaki tofu and tempura prawn.
Side selections include katsu rice and pickled cucumber, while bundle boxes of bowls, rolls and sides, all priced at £6, are also on sale.
“We hope Sticks, Bowls & Rolls will provide our customers with a delicious and exciting meal to have at home and bring some joy to their food shopping,” said KellyDeli UK MD Ian Roberts.
“We also know it’s very easy to feel hungry when at the supermarket, so the option to heat up our dishes to enjoy straight away will brighten up any day.”
Last August Asda opened Bam Tuk, an Asian street food KellyDeli brand concession, at its Minworth superstore.
The “open-kitchen style concept added theatre to the in-store shopping experience” Asda said at the time, with the kiosk featuring paper lanterns, old television screens and a corrugated roof.
